From Dreams to Flight: My Personal Journey to Becoming a Pilot

Today is World Pilot's Day, and I want to celebrate this special day by sharing my personal journey to becoming a pilot, as well as paying tribute to all pilots worldwide. The road to the cockpit was not an easy one, but the rewards of this challenging and fulfilling career make every step worth it.

When I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a pilot, I knew I was in for a long and difficult journey. One of my biggest challenge was finding the means to pay for my pilot education. So, I worked tirelessly, juggling multiple jobs to make ends meet, while saving every euro I could to cover the costs of flight school.

While I did have some sleepless nights studying, the most significant part of my journey was working for several years at an airline pilot training school. It was during these years that I honed my skills, gained valuable experience, and learned from some of the most talented pilots and people in the industry.

Today, I'm grateful to be working as a business jet pilot, a role that brings me immense joy and satisfaction. I take pride in knowing that I play a key role in getting my passengers safely to their destination, or transporting organs and medical teams around for vital missions, and that I am part of an extraordinary community of pilots who share the same passion for flying.

In addition to my role as a pilot, I have also chosen to work as a manager, specializing in various fields such as Safety and Marketing, and develop skills in other areas as well. This decision has not only broadened my horizons but has also indirectly contributed to improving my pilot skills. I've learned the importance of strong communication, decision-making, and leadership – all essential qualities of a great pilot.

The challenges faced by the aviation industry today, such as climate change & sustainability, technological advancements, and the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic for instance, require pilots to be adaptable and committed to continuous learning. I'm proud to be part of this amazing group of professionals, who are navigating these challenges head-on and working tirelessly to ensure a safe and sustainable future for aviation.

So, on this World Pilot's Day, I want to say a big thank you to all my fellow pilots, some of whom I am proud to call Friends, who make incredible sacrifices and work hard to keep our skies safe.

To those who dream of joining our ranks, remember that it won't be easy, but with determination, hard work, and passion, you too can make your dreams of flight a reality.

Here's to the pilots – the dreamers, the adventurers, and the sky conquerors.

Happy World Pilot's Day!
